You do realize that guard of honour you have posted...that is much too FAT! Blah...they have not put a proper finish on their carcass...too fat even for the likes of my tastes and if it was (and it would not be, I so respect your beliefs!) ribs from a pig, even too fat for pork! Blah...that is the producers' fault...condition score your meat beasts and KNOW when enough is plenty enough!

Now you have made ME hungry...and now Benny--time to return the favour again...I have to show you it cooked...a cooked guard of honour! So much more delectable than just plain RAW meat...
:drool

th.jpg

Ah, there now...drooling! :p
See the asparagus garnish...perfectly seasonally wonderful!!

Guard of honour...I want to EVER so much try a CROWN ROAST of LAMB!!! :clap

May 16 2017 IMGP0892.jpg

I would LOVE to do up a crown roast of lamb...oh my...and all the things that go with a meal like that...I can see Benny adding wild mushrooms, I can see me adding new baby potatoes homegrown here...or even homegrown peas, picked with the dew still on them and rushed to the house to be kept waiting for din din dinner to be done!

May 13 2017 IMGP0255.jpg

The girls giving me STINKY EYE...
Why have you disturbed us in our mobile wheeled truck lair!
You better have brought MEAT...or something better than MEAT!
<personally, what's better to eat than MEAT??>

Ah yes love the cuts of lamb...

May 16 2017 IMGP0896.jpg

I have a set of Time-Life (nfi) The Good Cook cookbooks that show how to make the guard of honour, the crown roast of lamb, deboned and stuffed leg...all such regal and definately DELICIOUS sounding preparations!!

May 16 2017 IMGP0898.jpg

Even instructs past preparation to how to CARVE the sheepy beast up...each portion a lovely lamb chop...what a display...and we cannot EVEN taste the food and we are enticed to WANT it...terribly!

Such incredible feasts such as the foresaddle which is the chest with shoulders and two racks of lamb ribs...oh my. Hungry, I had better get working on fixing that state. I have zinged myself even...hee hee

May 16 2017 IMGP0891.jpg

Pork ribs and a whole sirloin beef tip -
Rick wants to smoke a large beef roast on
the Man Porch BBQ this weekend...slow and tasty...should be good!
Try out another kind of smoking chips!

So one of my many tasks for today...cut up two sets of pork ribs for the freezer and also reserve some for putting in the crock pot on slow with homemade BBQ sauce for dinner tonight...tis cold one again, was -3C and yesterday morn, -2C.

No NO temptation to start planting anything outside just yet. Not even the seed potatoes would fair well! :hmm

Gotta fly...be back after I play butcher...love cutting up meat...MEAT glorious MEAT...heck, where's Scott...he loves food too! He was the one that told me overdue for an update and Benny is the one that told me BYC was back up and running...

@scottcaddy

Hello? Too early for lunch and too late for breakfast...BRUNCH???

You're back Tara, I'm back - thank goodness. I don't think I have another website move left in me. I'm used to being on at all hours and there just isn't anyone to answer on my usual threads. Can't take the slow start.:bun

Yes, back like a bad rash, eh! :lau

Still some issues, I see I loaded a photo and got error message, tried again, twice and noted just now...the pic is before my "heel low" Gotta take some effort to iron out all these I suppose.

I don't know how to go from preview to posting without losing my post which I have done several times now...I don't like having only ten photos (as uploaded files) I may load up to each post...so gonna see me doing breaks in posts...page 1 of 3 and such to get the more than ten photos posted per update, but whatever...

I know you would not pick out fatty lamb...you pick the best of the BEST! :D

You want one of my Dorpers!!! That'd be for MEAT... to EAT!!! :th

ACK...well I guess if'n I am to sell some, not keep them all, if'n someone wants to buy one and eat that one...I have no control after the "property" leaves my care.

"That'll be ten thousand dollars for that lamb!" :barnie

x May 09 2017 IMGP8976.jpg

Duro on left and D'Arcy on right
I want more DURO's...thicker bone, bigger body, better buns...bwa ha ha!

Bwa ha ha...thinking I will be able to create that kind of quality? Who knows, ram lamb not due to come here until August of 2018...so who does really know!!

Hello Tara, :frow
I was out and about earlier, home now and thinking that I might need to change Dinner plans.
You two guys are working on my BBQ/Smoked meat craving :barnie
Scott

Gotta love men...just gotta!

There the boys go...smoked meats...Benny hanging meat in a pit to smoke and Scott going thru cravings over, none other than SMOKED carcasses...bwa ha ha...

Gotta hand it to men...they know how to live the good life! :love

If not maybe the looooongest of lives...smoke...hee hee...smokin' good times :celebrate

Recall that joke about healthy living and a doctor preaching to a patient about all the things he must cut out of his life to live longer...the patient merely replying, "What's to live for if we can't LIVE a decent LIFE!" Sometimes a short but rich and joyous life would be more worthy than a long tedious cutting out everything we love doing...good or bad...
:th

Aww, so cute!

I'm envious of how green and lush your grass is. :love

Two of the most amazing cooks... :hugs

James Beard...

Food is our common ground, a universal experience.

Julia Child...

Life itself is the proper binge.

She makes me laugh...way too much :lau

It's so beautifully arranged on the plate -
you know someone's fingers have been all over it.

She did the first cooking show...she bumbled around in life for decades before finding out she loved French cooking...everything about it AND supported and encouraged by her lovely husband, became and icon to look up to.

May 19 2017 IMGP1641.jpg

A super busy day, but always time to plan a nice meal...
May 19 - picnic ham and scallop potatoes - best part...
leftovers the next few days
even BUSIER days, eh!

Child was magnificent in her own right...explains of Beard...

Beard was the quintessential American cook. Well-educated and well-traveled during his eighty-two years, he was familiar with many cuisines but he remained fundamentally American. He was a big man, over six feet tall, with a big belly, and huge hands. An endearing and always lively teacher, he loved people, loved his work, loved gossip, loved to eat, loved a good time.

He would have been an amazing person to meet; honest to a fault (like me!), he could talk about foods for days upon end...to the utmost minuscule details, much like myself...bwa ha ha...flog a horse to death without realizing...time for a new topic! LOL :hmm

I can't help but quote James again...he is such a fun person--not perfect but he loved people, just as Julia Child did...and Beard was so ever out there!

I believe that if ever I had to practice cannibalism,
I might manage if there were enough tarragon around.
I realize many would persecute someone for their sexual preferences, but "I" will not because I have produced enough animals to realize, that sometimes Nature does not create a being that is male OR female OR both OR not at all. To me, that is not a topic I choose to discriminate against because I don't believe we choose what gender we are attracted too and sometimes, one is created that is neither here nor there, yes nor no, black or white but grey and inbetween or even, not at all.

May 6 2017 IMGP7966.jpg

May 6 - French toast and bacon...

Harrumph I guess. I hope I have not insulted anyone! Acceptance for who a person IS has to be acceptance of all things; things I am not, things I am and things I may yet come to understand better.

Good versus bad is not for us humans to judge. We are not the ones to answer for someone else's ways and to miss out on each persons specialness is to deprive yourself of enjoying each individual for all they are worth. I don't have to love all of someone, but I do have to tolerate and accept that others will be different and the same as I and to write someone off because I don't happen to AGREE with all of them; that is a sinful in my eyes and I am not god to judge others...thankfully that burden is not mine to bare. ;)

A close dear friend raises Australian Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dogs...I raise Australian Cattle Dogs and the difference past one is bobtailed naturally and the other is not, are many...even the body shape is different BUT the glaring difference is one has a tail and the other does not. Still love the breeds, even helped to have the Stumpies recognized in Canadian Kennel Club in Miscellaneous Class and now a fully recognized dog breed. I thought about getting a Stumpy when I was getting the girls from Australia...that is how profound my learning and appreciation for the breed has become.

May 18 2017 IMGP1510.jpg

May 18 - Bacon, lettuce, & tomato with cottage cheese

Ask me years ago if I wanted a bobtailed dog and I would have told you NO...we learn to appreciate differences and we learn often to embrace them with an open heart and mind.

Matthew 7:1 - King James Bible:
Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Be very careful... how you judge others...for all of us will be judged one day and we may come up very short to the ones we judged ourselves and came up short on. :old
