Oh yes, I loved I am Legend, I saw it twice - scary and sad but, so good.

BTW Rick is a great shopper - My dad loved booberry pies (me too) and the whipped cream -is the perfect touch. And chicken...... I'm gaining pounds just thinking about it. Bon appetit

Tara...love love love the snow pictures. Love reading all your posts...you are such an inspiration.

I found the second viewing you were pumped up for the obvious outcome. Sigh. I did kinda find the deer being hunted by the lion pride to be pretty kewl. I could watch that portion over and over...speaking of hunting...

You'll like this one set of pics DD!

So I am use to seeing these prints in the yard...don't they look like lobsters...the RARE and elusive Prairie Lobster...yeh!
lol.png

So Princess Warrior is out and about sniffing her quarry...she never gets near to an actual bun bun...but she does find the prints intriguing.

This one was from yesterday and is a somewhat smaller print...we do have two Snowshoe Hares here.

BUN BUNS

January 27, 2014, so last year's bunny bun buns

KRUSTY, the clown "squirrel" hare

And April 4, 2014, coat changing time, signal spring has sprung

The last photo is of Krusty...named because Rick laughed at my expense. I kept thinking, "Man that's a big squirrel" and told Rick about the "clown squirrel" prints I kept coming across in the yard...Yeh...he went totally to town on me... "That's a snowshoe hare print not a CLOWN squirrel." Yeh, so Krusty the Clown was thusly named.

Glad to see them hip hopping about in our lil' sanctuary. I truly thought my veg garden would feel the brunt of two hares but so far, last year, not a single leaf of lettuce or a carrot was taken. Kinda real kewl I figure.

So about the only real good way to be able to observe Mandarin Ducks...is to have a camera system focussed on their activities.

My Hero set up a camera system a few years back and we get to sit inside and watch the FTDucks

I get the biggest charge when they all get racing around and around their water container...you can almost visualize them doing the Macarena round and round about.

Here they all are...one pair of the Oz Black Swans and four pairs of the Mandarins. Was cold yesterday at about -20C or so.

My fav view from inside the house...of what else, but the Taj Mahal...

All tucked up and in the midst of winter.

Pretty cute Fixins playing Vanna White by the snow covered stone bench.

Oh yeh and one for Teila...
Now my post is complete...

Okay I was going to say those prints look like lobsters and then I kept reading and you obviously saw it to...
Rare Prairie lobster indeed, do you think they cohabitate with prairie oysters?

You know what they say about great minds...

But would we be able to entice the extravagant spending BIG Game Hunters in on promises...of a lobster dinner (heck, let's throw in the infallible promise of an OCEAN view with that dinner here, too)! Put enough garlic and butter on anything and my mind goes...yeh...YUM!

Poor bun buns...so lucky they can move outta harms way so well...

Found your thread during a 'genetics' search and just wanted to thank you for your in depth explanations. Fun!
Read from page one and just finished. Pretty cold and snowy here too so it was nice to know there's someone else out there who can appreciate all that white. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person in the world who loves a full moon shining on new powder and snow nose! Now that I've read all the wonderful posts here I don't feel so alone. Thank you!

Bwah wah wah...

Add in another vice of ours...the frantic foodies feast fer the eye sockets...

My post has assisted the original person with the query and already got two ovations on it. I was thanked and told they appreciated the time I spent on replying. That in itself makes posting worthwhile and yes Ron, it will pop up for those in search of information like this. It does make you wonder some daze tho...no good deed goes unpunished eh...ha hah ha!

I would probably have behaved better if'n I would get more invitations...then again...

Good snow coverage...winter resting...it'll melt, it'll be good...come May er so.

No seriously...love you posted this bitta pretty green. Love the colours in the leaves and it so makes just growing green lettuce so boring!

I'm looking at some colourful lettuces to grow this coming season too.

http://www.sandhillpreservation.com/pages/seed_catalog.html

Sand Hill Preservation (nfi) - Glenn has some really quite kewl seeds...he's got a corn listed by the name of Amazing Early Alberta and it's only 75 days, yeller and white and he may have some but did not sell any seed last year and it is still unavailable for 2015. it is a flint corn, so more about corn meal than cobs which I usually go for. I'm hoping to make another order and maybe he'll have it then (got things like field mice helping themselves to the really good tasting crap) 'cause I love growing corn and this one just seems over the top perfect for a more lazy version of myself as the Idiot Gardener, eh!

Another good one but for more a flour...Yukon Supreme and wait for it...53 days...kewl!

In lettuce, thinking of getting the red romaine and of course, there are leaf lettuces with lotsa colour in bronzes, browns, and reds with the greens, iceberg with reddish tinge. Heaven help me when I see the list of Swiss Chards with pinks, yellows, reds and oranges--not just white and green...However does one decide, eh! I want them ALL!!!!
celebrate.gif

Thing I like about Glenn is he does not chemically treat any seed and never sells genetically modified seeds...he has varieties you can find no place else and even keeps varieties going that are rarely sold...because he cares about keeping plant genetic diversity going. If you can manage it, support him in this fun...his birds are kewl too, as are his plants. A true Preservation spirit indeed.

Anyone here as corny as I am...I am concerned about cross pollination but figuring...I can still get some blue corn, some of these more early kinds too and if I plant it and the mature dates are far enough apart...might not have a cross pollination concern...any thoughts out there??

Glad you are having fun, that is what all this silliness is about...the FUN.

Yikes, don't envy having to go from page one to now...that's a rather long and photo full.

You are most welcome. Never alone...never alone...glad you like the views of winter white.

Thought fer the day then...

Now make like a good carpet shark and go BITE the rest of the dang day, eh!
