Jest Another Day in Pear-A-Dice - Higgins Rat Ranch Conservation Farm in Alberta

Funny coincidence. Just when I got a souvenir in the mail(sister & niece came home from Ireland)a little stuffed, black faced sheep - I am enjoying the photos of your real ones on here. Yours are much cuter tho. Plus mine doesn't seem to be growing at all.

Well yer stuffy ovine would certainly grow here...if kept in the house that is & away from dog teeth! LOL

What I mean is all the dust bunnies :)bun) would stick to the plushy and that black faced sheep would GROW in volumes! :lau

Is there any possible way at all to get a photo of the darling sheepy your relatives mailed you?
Congratulations on the new lambs! :thumbsup
The word עדר - = eder- is a herd
The word אדר= also eder- is a stuffed animal....
I think that you have predicted his future! :lau ( :hugs)

I too find it coincidental...some weeks ago (my time flies when having fun!) I drug Rick (no, he did go willingingly-he is a GOOD husband to entertain his wife!) to a farmer's market in Calgary. The purpose was two fold, entertainment of going to a place we have never been and trying out a burger made in a city bus (parked permanently at the farmer's market). The burgers were OK for restaurant food BUT the inside market was fun. I went into one store and there on the wall...were these...and yes, I did laugh.

(I have to meander off to work...will post photos when I find them...again...lol )

Taxidermy but of the fake fur kind...can you EVER imagine designing and sewing these...what FUN indeed!

My sister has another episode of her show on air at Joy TV... she says just for me, she
has said a line on the program..."Shucky darn and slop the chickens!" Anyone want to guess the context of where that quote came from? I'll try to find it later here...a hint, tis a well know cartoon character, but which one?

Garfield was one of my favourite strips. Should poke around and see if there's any re-runs.

The link goes along daily...so you could see the re-runs of the strip. :D

Can't seem to locate the trip to farmer's market but I will have to go looking in more detail.

In the meantime...little walkabout this morn. :wee :wee

Come join me on the Man Porch for a coffee (or tea, even herbal)

On Monday eve, we did more work on the new water feature. Rick had picked up the hose required for the pump and to install that, it meant he had to lift the fountain out, used the tractor to put it back in and then he filled the pond! We spent a very pleasant evening, water filling and I decided while there, haul in the limerock to finish around the pond. I had done some limerock topping in the bird yard too earlier that day.

You all know the dogs figure the new water feature IS their own personal dog waterer...all like 450 gallons of it. Eeep...

Burgers from a city BUS!!

May 27 2017 IMGP3731.jpg

And did we ever laugh as we were leaving...

May 27 2017 IMGP3743.jpg

I guess if you have a Ferrari, you park where ever you wanna...guess you can be rude because, well, uh, you can afford to PAY the PARKING TICKETS...

We laughed because out in the country, you'd get a good cuff behind the ears for being that stupid--block the road because, what? You're MORE special than the rest of us?? Hardly. Out in the country, no fines, no one care's about generating money that way...we care about kindness, rightness, decency and properness...act like an ijit and park in the way and someone will take a swat at you...FINE...fine and dandy like. A parking fee is suppose to be a deterrent to make people act properly but obviously not working as this click points vividly out. :lau

Oh well, just glad we don't reside in the city, eh. Fun place to visit and then vamoose from. :p

Rick and I got overwhelmed...so we will go back to the Market as there are lots of stores we never saw and it's fun to visit places like this. I said VISIT, right? :hmm

In my search for the farmer's market clicks...I remember I have not posted this...

We have a bull, a hairy big horned bull (Scottish Highland cattle) that we pass on the way to the cities on our loser laps. Rick affectionately calls him FREEZER BEEF. This beauty of a bull, he lives with draft horses, guessing Percherons like Deb's. @perchie.girl

Well I had to howl...the one day I made Rick stop so I could take better non-blurry photos of Freezer Beef instead of the usual on the fly by...and this was a two photo sequence...try NOT to laugh...for us going past this place, we want to KNOW where Freezer Beef is at, is he doing well and yeh...

Apr 26 2017 IMGP5957.jpg

He's like, "Bugger off...people always clicking my pic!"

Apr 26 2017 IMGP5958.jpg

Can you see his response...if not, here's same photo...

What can I say...he's a cutey...with ATTITUDE too... :love

I am sure Teila will delight in that one... @Teila :p

Love your Jacob's ladder plants.

Then you would probably enjoy the Solomon's Seal [polygonatum biflorum, multiflorum, odoratum] too... :D

Jun 19 2017 IMGP2687.jpg

Took a while to get very many...planted only one to start...
To see how it did?

http://www.solomonsseal.net/abouttheplant.html

Solomon's Seal (polygonatum biflorum, multiflorum, odoratum, etc.) is a medicinal herb that has diverse health restorative properties. It can be used as a herbal tincture, salve, tea or supplement. As an alternative remedy, it may offer relief, healing or mending to sports injuries and other conditions related to tendons, joints, ligaments, bones, bruises, connecting tissues, cartilage, etc. It also soothes and repairs gastrointestinal inflammation and injuries. It is effective for feminine issues, such as menstrual cramps, PMS, bleeding, and the like. Additionally, it is known to lower blood pressure and relieve dry coughs.

Solomon's Seal has a rich history that goes back many thousands of years. Herbalists and healers, both in Europe and North America and the Far East, have written about its diverse effects on numerous conditions. In 2010, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (Natural Resources Conservation Service) identified Solomon's Seal as a Culturally Significant Plant, noting its medicinal and restorative value among North American Tribal (Original Nation) peoples. It is our understanding that the National Institutes of Health is presently researching the benefits of Solomon's Seal for heart health.

Western documentation is largely anecdotal. Gardener's and nature lovers know the plant well, for it is easily identifiable and can be cultivated. Wellness practitioners using alternative healing methods are somewhat familiar with the plant and praise it; however, their number is still small and documentation is limited. Herbalists, chiropractors, among others are increasingly validating Solomon's Seal's effectiveness. Traditional Western medicine, based on allopathic or invasive procedures and pharmaceuticals, has provided little knowledge or interest in integrating Solomon's Seal with treatment. However, researchers are engaing in projects to determine the herb's healing qualities for a number of conditions.

The article says something about pea sized berries (dropberry) though I have never noticed any. I will have to watch in future to see if we do get berries, the wild birds are notorious at helping themselves FIRST. :lau
