I've been a lurker for a bit.
We have had chickens most of our married life of over 30 years. Mostly it's been my husbands hobby. I went to a poultry auction with friends to purchase a pair of Peafowl. I saw some BEAUTIFUL chickens that I fell in love with. They sold for more than I was prepared to pay if I was going to bid on some peacock.
I now have 2 peacocks and one peahen ( that's another story). We have about 20 Guinea fowl, 4 Australorpe hens, 3 Easter Egger pullets, 4 Bantam hens, 2 Easter Egger roosters, a Bantam rooster and 15 fewer chicks than I had a week ago when the neighbors lab got into the hen house.
I look forward to joining the forum and learning from you all.

Welcome to BYC! A lot of us were lurkers before we joined. I'm sorry about the loss of your chicks to your neighbor's dog. You have quite a mix of birds in your flock. I have raised Black Australorps for years and they are my favorite standard breed; calm and gentle and the best layers of the brown egg laying breeds. I don't know much about peafowl or guineas (never had either), but you might want to check out our sections on them at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/45/guinea-fowl and https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/51/peafowl Good luck with your flock.

Welcome to BYC. Hope you neighbor compensated for your loss and has taken steps to see his dog doesn't visit again. Please do beef up security at coop and run.

We hear from so many new members having similar experiences, I wouldn't place much faith in your neighbor, in all likelihood he doesn't give a hoot. If the tables were turned and your chickens killed his dog, he'd probably take it to the supreme court. That would make front page news.

Alright

I will post some pictures when I figure out how. :/
My older peacock Clyde is shedding tail feathers right now and it's like a treasure hunt every day.
