Jobs– What did you want to do? What do you actually do?

My goal was to be a State Fire Marshal.
Started vol. Fire fighter at 18
Paid at 21 lasted 13 years
Took multiple Fire fighting, Fire science, haz mat and arson classes
Went to the private sector as a life safety and property protection technician lasted 14 years, mostly inspecting fire suppression systems and doing life safety and fire code compliance inspections in new Orleans La. Focusing on the French Quarter with specialists endorsements in design, inspection and servicing of pre engineered wet chemical and industrial dry chemical fixed fire suppression systems.
At that time I started working with the fire marshals office closely cause of the paperwork and doing commissioning of the systems and found out I didn't want to be a Marshall . So now I am in facilities management for a major medical (hospital system) in maintenance doing safety compliance along with general maintenance. I started working for that hospital system as a contractor doing inspections while I was with the prior company so I guess you could say I was poached. I love what I do now and from being in the industry soo long when the fire marshal or other life safety inspectors come to do inspections and see me they pretty much know they won't be finding any deficiencies that day. It's weird how I can look back and see how everything I did had meaning to bring me to where I am today. I believe everything you do and all the paths you cross in life is deliberate and for meaning even if it doesn't seem like it is today. One day you will probably be able to look back and see how it all came together to make you who you are today.

I want to join the police force, eventually in the highway patrol. Why? I don't really know, except that I always get a buzz when I see them at work, and want to do something that is both helpful to people, and exciting at the same time.
Also, I have seen first hand how necessary it is to reinforces speed limits for young drivers.
I think I have the mindset to cope with the darker side of it as well. (although only time will tell there)
I am planning to apply early next year, or even sooner.
On the side, I would also like to stay connected to farming, maybe running sheep on the family property. And then down the line, I would really like to have a family of my own, with a husband and kids. I don't know if that will ever happen though...

I grew up in the stone age before internet and cable TV. At that time if you loved animals your "only" option was to be a vet. My dream job would be working in a zoo comasary making food for zoo animals but I guess I'll stick to my office job and feed my mini T Rex's who act like zoo animals sometimes.

This is going to sound real corny, but oh well. I always wanted to be a wife and mother. 🤷🏻‍♀️It wasn’t a super acceptable answer throughout my life from my teachers and parents perspective, but look at me now! I homeschool my kiddos and have a wonderful marriage. God knew it was an acceptable answer. 😂❤️
Me too!
