Johnson’s Lice and Mite spray

My girls are missing lots of feathers around their Vents and Ive tried a couple different things to resolve this but nothing is working so far. I know lice can be hard to see but Ive checked even the whitest of my hens at midnight and I never find anything. They have lots of time to free range and have plenty of space to roost too so Im just puzzled at this point.

Has anyone used this with their Chickens? I stumbled upon this online today and it almost looks to got to be true, and as the saying goes, if it looks to good to be true then it most likely is. Im curious if this does what it says it does and if I need to stop selling their eggs during treatment like I did with other products.

I have a couple hens with the same problem. I have dusted them with Seven and cleaned and dusted their coop. Anxious to hear from some experienced keepers on a solution.

Hmm...all the links about the spray I can find are British...is it available here in the States ?

I just spent several hours yesterday emptying my coop and then treating the bare coop crevices with liquid Sevin, then putting in fresh shavings and treating them with both Sevin powder & DE. Coop is clean.

I went in this morning and I was going to dust the birds with powdered Sevin but I don't know how one person can do it. I came here to post as to how one person can do it...My birds are squirming, flapping, making a commotion...I gave up. I only have 8 pullets & 5 adolescents that share an 8'x8' coop. I was thinking maybe they'd get enough exposure while they're in the coop but maybe not...

Thoughts ?

I found a place that sells it on Ebay and I think they are in New York. Im going to give my coop another thorough deep clean today and see if that helps. I have the Ivermectin dust that Im going to apply again as well. My girls are all pretty docile so I plan on just getting some dust on the palms of my gloves and giving the girls a good pat down under their wings and vent area. To keep them busy while Im cleaning Im going to treat them to some yogurt and scrambled eggs to make sure they arent having a lack of Protein issue.

Hopefully this helps at least a little, can't do harm right?

I searched on the internet and most article I found say it's safe to use Sevin....but then you'll always find those one or two links that'll tell you it's dangerous for both birds & people.....just enough to make you question yourself...

I may try dusting my birds tomorrow night when my daughter is here to help and after they've gone into the coop for the night. This morning they were all anxious to get out and into the yard....

Everyone has opinions whether something is safe or not, unless you know for a fact one way or another I guess you wont until you try it yourself. I have always been one to learn things the hard way, sometimes its more fun and others not so much
