Join my hatching journey

I just did an eggtopsy on one of the Wyandotte eggs I know has been dead at least 3 days. To my suprise when I opened the air cell it had internally pipped right before dying (I couldn't see the pip with my torch). Only thing i could see wrong was the head was over the wing instead of under it, so it was malpositioned. The rest of the body looked fine and it had started obsorbing the yolk.

The more I think about it the more im convinced the thermostat was incorrect. I had two, the one I decided was more accurate was a degree higher than the other but yeah I'm having second thoughts about that now. 2 chicks out of 14 is pretty poor, I'm pretty sure the other 12 are dead but I won't take them out yet just incase. Pretty disappointing :(

I am sorry. I can't stress enough how important it is to have calibrated thermometers in the bator. Two is still better than zero.
:hugs

I'm so sorry it was a good idea and you can still try again and maybe there will be better results :hugs
