Joining you from Vermont

Hi all! I’m in NW Vermont and looking to re-establish a flock on a retreat farm where I caretake. I had a couple mature layers here last year (rogues from the farm where I work that couldn’t be integrated into the flock there), but my neighbor’s husky got them. I'm looking to start a bigger flock this year, complete with better fencing and a rooster. Eggs for me and for guests, and if we have enough, for sale.
But first I need to get more birds. Anyone in/near Vermont have favorite sources? Thinking pullets for speed and ease but will consider hatching. Also glad to buy/adopt mature birds from anyone thinning their flock.

Knowing what I know now I would definitely hatch my own starter flock, but that’s also if you have the time and equipment and if you keep in mind that you may lose some. When you hatch your own they see you first and I just feel like that’s a deep connection. But only if you’re able to get hatching eggs locally or pick them up yourself because shipping eggs I feel are not for first timers, but that’s just my opinion.
Welcome!!
