New duck owner and first time posting here. I have (what I believe) is a jumbo Pekin. Donald was born the beginning of March. On Wednesday I came home from work to find him not using his right leg. The “ankle” joint is swollen. I have been doing epsom salt soaks. He gets Nutritional Yeast flakes,
Vit. B and Selenium with E paste mixed in his food. He also gets thawed frozen peas for a snack. I took him to the vet yesterday (Saturday) morning. She has me giving Meloxicam 1x daily for 4 days and an antibiotic BID for 5 days. It is a sulfa based antibiotic. I have him confined to a small area. I am taking him out for swimming time a couple times a day. The leg is still swollen and warm. How long will it take to heal. How long should I keep him confined? He misses hanging with his friends and his friends miss him. I have attached photos of his legs and bottom of foot FYI.

With most joint infections, you're going to see a large scab or evidence of a puncture, suggesting the bacteria from the environment were able to penetrate deep inside the tissue. I cannot actually see any lesions on the leg, so I'm curious to as whether the bird has a joint infection, or not.
Pekins are large birds, and will frequently develop soft tissue trauma (sprains, strains) during mating, or tripping/ falling out of their swimming water, or over objects. This can create some obvious redness and swollenness in the affected leg.
Rest, and time would prove most useful for healing.
Additionally, NSAIDs such as Meloxicam, and daily water therapy can also help.
I hope you see some improvement soon, although consider it can take weeks for these "injures" to heal especially with large breeds.
