Joon's First Egg!!

My 10 month old Barred Rock finally laid her first egg today! It was MASSIVE. 2.1 ounces. She was tiiired after here are some pictures!!

She was hatched around March 29th, 2010.

She sure took her sweet time! I have a hen hatched right around the same time and she started laying last August.

Way to go Joon! I have a going on 10 month hen that has not laid yet either. They lay when they are ready

Thanks! I know it! I always hear if they start later it is better for their body and such, and they tend to lay for a longer period. Who knows?? Joon was from Belt Hatchery, and her hatchmate of the same breed started laying last August as well lol!

Joon was holding out for her new coop! We are building a 8x8 biiiiig coop for the girls and construction was finished yesterday, the day she laid her first egg LOL!!!!

She is a wonderful pullet, errr.. Hen!

She is very talkative, and REALLY gets into the egg song hehe. I am so proud of my girl!
