Judge my duck

just a little tip in case it crossed your mind....

what ever you do, don't wash the duck with soap, it will kill her, just plain water and she will clean herself. You could rub a little vasoline on her bill and legs if they are dry, but just very little....ducks are not as much work as chickens......good luck

Good to know! I did not use soap on her in the tub. I did let her clean her self, but then rubed out the parts she didn't get clean. I actually did put casoline on her bill, but it is because the part nearest her head looked kind of dry and flakey.

She's not terrible-I've certainly seen worse.
Is she young? If so her head may develop more. Right now she doesn't show enough crown or cheek. Length of bill is good. Her type would probably show better if she was dry.
Good luck at the show. Talk to the other Call breeders-pick their brains. Don't forget to have fun!!!

NYREDS does have a good point.....
We do show some of our hatchlings in the fall but the head isn't filled out all the way until the following year, sometimes a little longer. It does take a full year to see the full potential. Why don't you post a new picture when she is dry and all fluffed up?

I would post a picture of her dry, but she is back out side and it is raining. She is back to being a mud ball. I will take pictures before the show May 2nd and 3rd. and also after and let you know how she does!!

we keep our show ducks off the ground so the feathers don't get all jacked up, especially the whites. We did group flock most of them this winter on the ground because we have so many, but now we are having some issues with conditioning on some of them.
