Juice cleanse

This is part of a photo display I did on juicing. That is a 40 oz. bowl of salad greens that came out at 2.1 oz. of juice. Of course I add apples, carrots, beets, fennel etc. when juicing since straight greens is still unpalatable to me. Good to show the nutritional density of juicing. I mean, how many of us would eat three 40 oz. salads a day? Not me. But, a 6 oz. glass of juice, easy, peasy.

Thanks for sharing the photos & info!

I just used my new juicer for the first time. I kept it very easy - a mix of peaches, pineapple, strawberries - mixed it w/some orange juice -- it was very nice. Heading to the organic green market in an hour to pick up some veggies to try. I'm a bit *chicken* about trying out new things, but I think this is going to be OK.

Congrats Terri!!! You will love the green juices. Just a little tip and I also had to learn this from other juicers and reading a lot - make sure you have more veggies than fruit juice. I fell in love with grape juice and a lot of times didn't juice my veggies. Fruit does have sugar, so people tend to use the fruit to sweeten the veggie juice.

Keep us posted on your first veggie juice drink. I'm on my way to the market to get veggies and fruit as well. I think I'm going to do a Vinci De Mayo juice.

Just started another 10 day cleans, course I will be taking off Mother's Day. Here's another juicing story board. I took a 16 oz. bag of cut kale and juiced it. Here's what I got: basically 10 oz. of juice and 6 oz. of pulp. Including a picture of the dry pulp. The Omega really does a good job.

This is a good example of why we all need to start growing our own fruits and vegetables. For some basic inspiration check out growingyourgreens.com

Just when I thought I couldn't love BYC any more.... I find a juicing thread. Most Excellent. I will have to post my muffin recipe... I use the pulp from my Champion juicer and make muffins from it. Every week they taste a little bit different depending on the veggies and fruits/citrus that I use. It was making me crazy doing away with all the pulp knowing the fiber is so good for all of us. I'd used about as much as I could in compost but since I juice nearly everyday... whoa that's a lotta pulp

Hope everyone is well!

Jane

WOW!!! And just when I thought this juice cleanse couldn't get any better. Here we see how to use the pulp for muffins. Now I'm all ears. I never thought about that but I love that idea. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post your muffin recipe. I will be juicing as of Monday but I can use the pulp and make muffins and freeze them, so when I am off of my juice cleanse, I can eat them muffins that have the pulp in it. :drool

Thanks for finding this thread and sharing your idea. Love IT!!! :bow

My pulp gets split three ways, worms, rabbits and chickens. Chickens get fed last. They used to turn their spoiled little beaks up at it until they saw me giving it to the rabbits, who love it. Now the chickens eat it up. They are such funny little critters. I tried making crackers with the pulp but, they were awful. In the winter I add it to soup.
