Hi everyone! This is my 1st post on BYC!! I have 2 broody hens right now a BO and a SS. I ordered BCM and sizzle and silkie eggs off the internet. Last friday I put a mix of shipped eggs and some of my own fertile chicken eggs under my hens. A total of 22 eggs. I candled a few last night (day 4) and took a few pictures. I plan on numbering the eggs today when the ladies take there 15-30 min break. Here's what I got.
Pic 1 & 2 are of the same egg. I see veining, but was curious about the white area on the left side of the egg.
Egg 2. Red circle of death?
egg 3. more veining
egg 4. veining
egg 5. ? This egg was hard to get a picture of. I see some veining but not a lot.
Like I said I plan on getting out there and better marking the eggs so I can keep better track of things. This might be hard with my Buff (Olive), she is extremely protective and I was afraid she was going to break or peck her eggs. My speckled Sussex (Genny) is great and lets me check out all her eggs without getting too upset.
Does anyone have any suggestions on candling Black Copper Maran eggs? I can't see really anything when I candle them. Im knew to BYC and have only had chickens for about a year and I love all the information here on BYC. You all are great!
