My hatch this weekend is officially over. It was very successful too!
Out of 18, 14 hatched!

Having technical difficulties and pics won't post...

It seems like the hatching is slowing down. i love reading all the stories and lately i just sit and wait

So, decided to check my broody when we got home and glad we did. She had left 5 of her 9 outside while nesting the other 4. They are now in the brooder with my incubated chicks.

my mom says that when they do that its because they know that something is wrong with the chick in the egg. Is there any trueth in that or its a old saying

I still have some July babies coming! Not ready for August!! (And Dh just told me that under no circumstances am I supposed to hatch any more chicks...).

these 5 were already hatched. She had left the nest with 6 unhatched eggs (they are in the bator now... I think another hen kept adding to her nest.) She successfully hatched 9 and walked them today for the first time. But when she settled back down for the night, she left 5 outside by themselves. Poor fuzz balls.

Ah well, they are too cute, and mingling well in the brooder.

I still have some July babies coming! Not ready for August!! (And Dh just told me that under no circumstances am I supposed to hatch any more chicks...).

Lol. DH rolled his eyes when I did the math that we will have over 65 birds if the last 13 all hatch. I just remind him that fall comes soon enough, and the freezer will be ready for winter. Steroid free, healthy, happy meat, fresh eggs, and endless supply with that blasted roo and the black hen who lays but won't go broody.

I guess like humans, not all mothers are good moms. Glad she is taking care of the other 4, hope she doesn't leave them unattended too.

went into lock down today! hope these guys hatch got 2 frizzle silver laced polish eggs and 3 black cochin eggs how long should I wait after day 21 to see if they hatch????

I go to day 25.......but did have a day 27 chick one time.............

Hadn't cleaned the incubator yet.............
Named it......27 of course.

I HAVE A PIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 of the 5 has a star pip, and of course it's in the SIDE of the egg- I'll just have to keep an eye on it. Have had this happen before & it turned out fine. I just hope the others will come out fine too.

And I set my first 16 eggs from my SFH's tonight too. Along with 1 more silkie/sizzle egg & 3 eggs from my pen that has bantam cochins & bantam brahmas. They will be due to hatch Aug 5

Now if my English Orps will just start laying I'll be even more happy~
