Maybe try covering the bator with a towel or quilt? I cover mine when the power has gone out, it holds temps in for quite some time, maybe it'll bring your temp up a little

I have put a heating pad in it and it seems to have come up to the correct temp. I also have saucers of hot water in there for the humidity.

Just two days to go. When I locked down 6 of the fav. eggs looked really good. Please just work now. I up"d the temp some more on it and it seems to be catching up. I don't even know why it suddenly dropped.??? I never has before. Now I will be checking constantly a nervous Nelly.

Is there an august hatchalong yet? I just set 8 mutt eggs and 19 lavender orpingtons under broody turkeys and have coturnix quail eggs coming in the mail soon. My hatch day should be aug 1st or 2nd.

Cleaned, sanitized and air/sun dried the base, added straws to air holes so if water gets into those areas the straw acts like a dam blocking water from leaking all over whatever it's on but air get into the incubator still. (Saw that tidbit on LG incubator tip thread).
Then set (these are all with EE roo): 15 Red, 6 BarredRock and 20 White EE (she's my only EE hen). Now my thermometer/hygrometer doesn't fit. I'm not sure on the brown eggs who laid what but these are eggs I collected this week on a day that I got exactly 8 eggs so I know each hen laid one. I have a couple of girls that still have all their feathers so I'm not sure on fertility since the rooster doesn't seem to like them (or they don't like him).
I think some of those blue eggs won't develop because they are a month old but I figure a couple of things:
1-it's for me (not selling or shipping those eggs to someone else)
2-people hatch Eggs sold in stores and they are of an unknown age already that may be a month old

I guess that means I need to see if anyone's started an August Hatch along thread and go join since these eggs will be due the first few days of August (my last chance before my school job starts again). I wonder if any science teachers at work would like to have a incubator in their class room? If not, this will be my last attempt at hatching this year.

I went on an egg spree and set 100+ eggs on June 22nd... they just went into lockdown last night, I'm expecting a 100 or so chicks, many many varieties!

That sounds like a lot of fun with all those chicks hatching. What breeds did you get?

So I have 1 baby out and 6 more pipped!! Go babies!!!!

The one out is buff colored so I don't know what it will be since it was supposed to be an ameraucana... Blue or choc or mauve... But I could be totally wrong! Guess we'll see as it ages.

Me and my endless questions - this thread has been the BEST! Thank you for the virtual handholding.

I am preparing for lockdown tomorrow. Got my shelf liner. Got my tubing for inserting water into the dams to keep the humidity up. Preparing the egg cartons for when I take the turner out. HOLY HECK - the silkie eggs are WAY too small to fit in the cartons if I cut the bottoms off. What do I do with the silkie eggs to keep them at the same height that they've been incubating at?

Thank you for your reply. Since it was an ebay purchase, should I write a follow-up on my feedback to let other people know? The seller seems reputable and has shown their birds very successfully; I don't want to be rude but, if I were a potential buyer, I would want to know what others experienced I guess.

Just be honost, and dont guess on things that you dont know for sure what or why it happened.
