Broody #1 off the nest, so I checked her eggs. Disappointing. Had to remove 3 for rotten smell. On day 19. They were clear as well. Ugh! 3 eggs left in nest & I think only one egg will make it. Breeder had a lot of these BLRWs around. She was confident in their fertility. Makes me wonder what happened.

I have 13 in lockdown rockin n rollin steady, due Tues but last hatch was early so expecting these also. Broody 1 due 27th, broody 2 and 12 from staggered hatch due 29th, 12 in another incubator due 31st and broody 3 due 1st. Impatiently awaiting arrival, 30 hours now of watching eggs rolling around. Daughter just yelled at me to sleep till I see a pip but I may miss something.

my have never rock in the bator will keep an eye on my hatch now. they are due on tuesday.

One of my 3 broody ducks has hatched one duckling so far.

I have a question (possibly stupid).

When I lock down the eggs in the incubator tomorrow morning, is there a way to place the eggs that is better than others?  air cell up?  They will be on their sides on shelf liner over wire raised to the height of the turner.

I had this same question when I was about to lockdown, I had mine in cartons so I kept them in cartons, air cell up (of course) - I've read on a few threads that a lot of people had successful hatches & the cartons help keep the eggs from getting knocked around. I'm going to lay them on their sides next time & see how that works out, so whatever you've been doing for this clutch keep doing it.

Day 18 and day 19 tommorow getting nervous no sign of pips yet but 5 of the 7 I candled looked to have formed correctly but they are dark shelled and I have seen no sign of movement - is this OK? Fingers crossed its all about Tuesday and Wednesday night - so excited but need to know about the movements

HI, You know, I never see movement right at the end.............
I don't know if they are resting..

or my eyes are worse than I admit....................

One more thing . I really believe they plan their pipping to know when I am busy outside or sleeping...............
That old " a watched pot never boils thing"

I candled mine day 17 there was a lot of movement, but not so sure about day 18, if there is any, hard to tell. Fingers crossed for you good luck!
