Jumbo Eggs, where do they come from?

I have ducks, so i have become accustomed to very large eggs, had to give in and buy a whole fleet of plastic jumbo egg cartons from TSC, all summer i scoff at the piddly chicken eggs my friends get. All winter when my freeloaders are on sabbatical I have to buy eggs. I got some jumbo eggs the other day, the first was a double yolker. It got me wondering , are Jumbo eggs an anomaly? Are they from certain breeds of chicken? Does the stork bring them?

My ISA browns all regularly lay jumbo eggs. I started off with the green plastic cartons from TSC and ended up having to buy the orange ones.

My Production Reds regularly lay Jumbo's. I have one RIR that does occasionally while her sister mainly lays Mediums. I think in Winter the size goes down a little. I know my girls eat more when it is cold here.
