Jumbo weird egg laying killing chicken?

Last night we had major improvement from Buff. She was overly excited about her treats (boiled egg and yogurt) and was happy to have her water refilled as she had drank all of it. She even stood up for me. She was wobbly, but she was on her feet. She stood for a couple of minutes and then laid herself down more controled than she had in the past day. No flopping over. By morning she was gone. I feel like I just didn't get her treatment fast enough and her body was just too weak. Even with major improvement I wonder if something bacterial wise or organ shut down had not been stopped. I did feel what I believe was a large egg not laid in her body before I burried her.

Aw jeez, I was reading this thread with such hope. I'm sorry you lost her. I've lost 2 this winter that I thought were getting better and then boom, gone. Its a big disappointment.

I was getting so excited by your girl's progress, and then got to this page...

I'm so sorry you lost your girl. It is good that you were able to get her feeling better even though the loss did come. Thank you for sharing her situation with us. It may cause the rest of us to be able to identify a similar situation and take action quickly. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Being new to chickens just this year makes it hard for me to see something coming on. I think this is one of those hard lessons learned. I am closely watching everyone else in my flock for any inbalance issues, but haven't seen anything like this one.

Thanks everyone.

We have a positively PUNY Red star who lays eggs that are bigger than her head and about a third of her body weight! She's a tough little girl though and doesn't mind...
I'm sorry to hear about your loss, though. I hope the rest of your flock is OK. Don't lose hope!
