june bugs ?

    Are these ok for my week old chicks to eat? My brooder box is outside & I woke up to find them playing tag with June bugs. Just incase you don't know what a June bug is, its a small flying bettle reddish brown I'm color. Thanks

    I would give them a few and see what they do with them. Years alog I would give our young chicks a few Japense bettles and they loved them. Moderation is the key and watch them to make sure that they are not eating to many. Variation of high protein like that in my opinion would be good for them.

    Yes should be fine. I've seen people talking about catching junebugs to feed their chickens. Not sure about young chicks, but I can't imagine it would do any harm, our chicks used to devour all manner of insects.
     
  4. Last night the light attracted a few bugs, and they went crazy, jumping off the food dish to get a lil closer...
