Juniper Shavings

Anyone have experience with juniper shavings......working on live edge tops for a project and thought they might be good in the run.....are they too aromatic for the chooks ?

I've read/heard that cedar is ok in the run. Presumably juniper as well. Though it is something that I personally would not use.

How strong is the odor?

If it can make a human sneeze or cough it would probably hurt a bird's delicate respiratory system.

But if the aroma is mild -- no stronger than bought pine shavings -- it's probably OK, especially if its mixed with other things.
