Jury Duty - UPDATE-POST #30

Been called up twice and both times they excused me. Deaf and can not provide/or have funds for an interpreter. Case closed!

As for hubby, he has been called up twice, and once was in a jury a week long about a man beating the hell out of his daughter and the mom was "loose" about his ways. He voted GUILTY and so has the others, the parents went to jail for a 25 year sentence. Yeah, he didnt get paid very much that his employer was trying to weasel his pay out. That landed some hot water and I don't know if he got backpay or some kind of a reward.

I have TRIED to be picked and they never want me.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with my outspoken opinionated black is black, white is white, capitol punishment is applicable to traffic tickets, wacko personality. They NEVER pick me, NEVER!!!

I served on a jury for a rape case back in 2003. They didn't ask me any questions. They just had us stand up one by one and confirm our names, and then afterward told anyone to raise their hand if they had reason to believe they should not serve. Then from those of us left we were chosen by both the defense and the DA based purely on our appearance and what basic info was on our forms. I don't remember what was asked on those forms, but it was very basic, mostly vital info and whether we've been convicted of a crime, etc. I don't remember there being any questions about our views on any topics.

They usually ask you questions related to the case. For example, my employer was being sued and they asked who I worked for. Of course, when they confirmed that I was employed by the defendant, they let me go. Or, if it's a criminal case, they might ask you if you've ever been a victim of crime or have any close relatives in law enforcement or the legal profession.
