Hello! Is Ivy actually Ivan? We were hopefully because the colours are a little bland for a cockerel, no?! But comb and wattles are red, though much smaller than his hatch mates'... Are those saddle feathers though?

As expected what a crushing year this has been for me (and the kids)
!! Out of three hatches, we got THREE girls!!

I heard that incubating the eggs at .5 degrees lower will produce more girls... I'm not 100% on that one though.

This will not work as chickens are no alligators.

Yeah...heard that works for gators but not chickens. I think if that did work it would be that it kills the male embryo. Not exactly my idea of a good hatch.

Sorry, I just meant that the colouring is "boring" for a boy . We have many STUNNING roosters, they can be very hard to part with!! (We're definitely keeping a handful, but won't be able to keep them all - not enough ladies to keep everyone happy!)

I think he's beautiful. It's true the cockerels often have the most noticeable feathers though.
