Glad to have joined this forum.

See this pic? I am now 59 years old and this is the first "me with chickens" pic I have. My brother on the left, me on the right. ;-)

I have owned chickens only a couple of times in my life, but I always enjoyed raising them (along with pigeons and ducks, when I had the opportunity).

I do not currently live in a place where chickens are allowed (shamefully, on the part of the HOA). However, I do look forward to being able to keep them again at some point. I'm currently in Pearland, TX, just south of Houston.

At the moment, I'm looking to obtain a couple of chickens for a friend of mine. I'd like to give him the gift of one or two Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and I'm wondering about anyone near the Houston area who might raise them. I'll likely have to post that in another thread. In any case, that's my brief intro. :-)

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Wow that's quite some years you have been involved with poultry and other feathered friends! That's a fab pic of you and your brother there.

I do hope you are able to get back in to poultry soon as I'm sure you will enjoy it very much.

Enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

Not that long, though, in the cumulative sense. I've had chickens for maybe about 8 years of my life, total. Most of the reason for NOT having chickens for a longer time has to do with being in the city and ordinances against it (whether city ordinances or HOA "laws").

That sure must be very frustrating when laws and ordinances prevent you from keeping chickens. Hopefully in the future you will be able to get back into keeping again :fl

Hi Al, nice to meet you. I hope the future will bring you the legal means to have chickens again.
