"just a coop"

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. Do you think I should put some sort of box in their coop. I mean they have nothing to go into, but many people dont have that, so I wasnt sure when I built it. Alot of people say the silkies just like to lie on the ground and stuff, so im sort of lost...

I would definately give them some sort of "house" to get into when it rains....someplace to stay dry. They might also like a small roost. I agree on the hardware cloth....strong, and small holes....will detere a coon for a while. Maybe motion detector lights? Well, I would waite on those untill AFTER the chickies learn to go IN the coop at night or they will be setting it off all night! LOL

I had a chicken coop with chicken wire and one night something just reached in a grabbed a side of my chicken - put a hole in it, but she lived through it all, poor thing. We were living in Central Fl. The chickens aren't smart enough to realize they are in danger when they are roosting, I suppose.

I posted a few pictures of my coop..the title is like New coop or something. If you look down pass the coop pics there is a cabinet thing. That is what im going to try and use for my chickens to be able to go in so they are out of rain/bad weather...or ifthey get scared...what do you think?
