Just a question..... What is the lowest possible temperature to incubate an egg?

The embryo in the egg stays in a dormant state at a temperature of ± 68F or lower. When the egg temperature rises above that, development starts, but it's far from the optimal temperature for embryo development (99F) and if incubated at much lower temperatures, not only slows the development way down, but results in very weak embryos and chicks, if they make it to hatch.

A few years ago we had an egg hatch at greatly fluctuating temperatures, ranging between low 80's during the day and a hen sleeping on the nest at night, bringing it up to the required temperature. The chick hatched at around 4-5 weeks and only lived for 5 months, with special care. It was severely stunted and didn't grow to half the size of a normal, healthy chicken of the same breed. In the pics she is aged around 4 months with another chicken aged about 2 weeks younger.
