Just bought male quail is this infection?

I put my male in with the 3 week olds to see what will happen. Of course he tried to mount all of them. He used to try to mount his brood brothers too when i had all the males in a cage

That’s pretty common, you shouldn’t give him hens until they’re 6+ weeks, and being so dominant I wouldn’t give him more males because he will probably injure or kill smaller boys when they’re mature.

I hope you didn't pay someone for these poor guys to encourage bad backyard breeding. They seem like they are a bad breeding situation that is not kept healthy or happy

Very stressful breeding sometimes. Chicks dying in eggs, deformed chicks splays , excess boys, freezer camping them, fox proofing pens. Breeding quails not heaps fun a lot of work involved

I got my lovely girl to help brood them it's working

In about 2 hours 16 chicks be sold. I have more hatching today/tomorrow 2 have pipped so far

Definitely going to switch him out for a more mellow one in a few weeks. Made the amateur mistake of keeping the prettier one rather than the one with better temperament
