Just bought male quail is this infection?

He's looking a lot better today. His poops okay. I think he's just got bit infection cause he was being raped. It should clear up I hope in a week maybe just guessing. Swelling looks bit down today

I'll check on him everyday see if it improves

He *looks* healthy. I would recommend giving him something more absorbent than newspaper. Do you have wood shaving? Newspaper gets gross and messy fast!

No I usually change their newspapers once a day. He's been outside in the chicken tractor most the day. I'm hatching quails atm been bit consumed. I think I've had 3 chick deaths today. Not very happy atm need sleep

I’ve had very dominant males with large red bulges where the foam is. It looks very much like your photos, the first time I noticed the red bulge from a distance I was really concerned, but I removed him and pressed it and got a ton of foam. If you got no foam it’s concerning, but since it’s gone down now that he’s alone and pooping foam, I’m thinking maybe you just didn’t press hard enough or the right area, because this is what has happened to well endowed alpha males when I remove them from the group, or when they are knocked out of their place by a new male. In my experience, they even seem to get smaller, without losing weight, I’m guessing they adopt a taller and maybe slightly puffed out posture when they’re on top, to seem as large as possible, and when they’re not in charge they make themselves as small as possible to keep the alpha from targeting them.

Thank you, your probably right. He's still isolating atm doesn't seem to mind being by himself I'll put him with the girls in a week or so. Very loud crow aha

I put my male in with the 3 week olds to see what will happen. Of course he tried to mount all of them. He used to try to mount his brood brothers too when i had all the males in a cage 🤦‍♀️
