I am so sad. My 4 eggs were due to hatch yesterday and today. I could tell something was wrong tonight and decided to open one up.
Well, I ended up opening all 4 because they were all dead. Fully formed, feathers everything. They just never pipped.
Honestly they looked a little shrink wrapped. I thought I had the humidity up high enough but maybe I needed more?
How high should the humidity be for peafowl eggs? And is it the normal 99.5-100.5? The bator was running a little high. But I could not get it to normalize without getting too low.
Can someone help me with some answers to what I did wrong. I have 8 more eggs I bought and received today and I don't want to kill these too.
Thanks everybody.

Were they turned regularly?

If so, it was probably a humidity issue.

Sorry, been there, done that, threw the eggs away.

Awww, I'm so sorry

Maybe you should get a couple different thermometers/hygrometers to make sure the temps are right....that's what I do. I have a homemade bator, and I don't pay any attention to the air temp. I base everything off the water wiggler temp, and so far I've had 2 hatches...(the second one is "in progress" because I only had 2 eggs and got really touchy....I just hope they make it cause all they did on their own was pip, I did everything else! They're wrapped in a damp paper towel sleeping in my bator right no....) My first hatch had a power outage and I had a 77% hatch rate. I hope it all goes well next time!!!

Fully formed and didn't pip is a humidty issue.

If they pip the air cell only they have drawn down to much - low RH it's to dry in the shell for them to turn and go any further.

If they haven't drawn down enough - to high RH they drown.

To high of a temp will kill them but if your 'bator has been running the same temp all along then that wasn't the problem.

Shipping is hard on pea eggs, we have been hatching ours left and right with no issues, on a batch of shipped eggs we got 50%. Not that i'm complaining at 50% for shipped

We bought our first ever live pea chicks this year. I had always been nervous about it in the past but our experience has been very positive. I won't order hatching eggs again.

Yes, I am sure now it was a humidity issue. They were so perfectly formed.
Well, I am learning and hopefully it will help others too.
I had read a post about "dry incubating" and thought I would try that humidity a little drier so they did not drown. It went the other way.
We are high desert here, so I think I am going to have to keep the humidity up high and then worry about drowning. Micro manage the last 10 days or so.
Thank you for all your support and sympathy. It really is hard. But guess what? Two of my African Geese made it! (the third egg was shrink wrapped too) I had to help one out because the shell was almost super glued on) But they are both strong and healthy!!
It helps to have them because I really wanted the peachicks. The geese are for my husband and the peachicks were for me. Now he has to share. LOL

Sorry to hear that, Humidity can be tricky.

I'm in Oklahoma and our humidity is sky high almost everyday!! I use a styrofoam bator with two thermometers. One has a built in humidity checker. What I do is keep my eggs in 30% humidity until 3-5 days before the expected hatch. Then I bump it to 65%. When the first pip appears it goes up to 75%. My temperature is as much as it can be at 99.5 F. Mine fluctuates between 98.5 - 100.5.

Hope this helps!

I always thought Oklahoma was dry. I just learned something new!
Out here we can leave the potato chip bag open but not the bread. By the time your sandwich is made the edges are getting crusty.

Potato Chips GENERALLY have a lot of oil in them.

Not so with "store-bought" bread.

MAYBE..if we just ran an "oily" finger once around the eggs prior to incubating......JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!
