Just built an incubator!

Did you make a window for viewing the hatch? That is the best part of all.

I built a diy incubator long time ago and it worked great. Never drilled the holes in the thermostat. I used two 25 watt bulbs in one those screw in Y fittings. For a sorta backup in case a bulb burned out.

It's looking good, I like the placement of the thermostat, and the egg turner idea looks really cool.

Did you drill holes into the thermostat? It is very easy, and makes a huge difference. If you talk to Orange Ribbon, he will tell you from his experience that drilling holes into the thermostat makes a great difference.

No I did not drill any holes. But its been holding right at 99 for the last hour. I dont think it has even cycled off.. unless it just happens quickly when im not looking. I think maybe that light and setup just so happens to even out at 99 degrees. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens. Maybe I'll have to put a stronger bulb or a 2 socket fixture like Jenjeran did.

A heatsink helps keep temps steady. I used jars filled with water, lids on tight. When you make the jars of water use warm water so you don't have to wait for them to heat up. I've seen some people use big rocks too.

Its toggling off and on now and staying 99 - 100. But "the beast" (a 22 pound cat) has been laying on it for a while.

that too cute i have two chick and my son 3 yr cat watching them if they get out of sight and start yell he goes and find them

incubator is looking good. I've done hatches with modified hot water heater thermostats and have had temps within .5 degrees. Next time you hatch try modifying yours.
