Just built my automatic water nipple system

Install went well, was a lot of fun building it. Put a toilet valve system in my bucket so there's always water. Ran hose down to my nipple pipe and fastened it to the run. We are putting our chicks out in the coop and run for the first time this evening. I will also out the regular water feeder out there just in case they don't catch onto it.

I really want to build one of these on a slightly larger scale. My biggest concern is the lines freezing in the winter. I was considering using heat tape but wasnt sure if it would work or what it would do to my already stellar electric bill

We use a 24 volt system at work, that might work.

Thats not a bad idea, are you referring to solar?

No its not solar, its acually runs on electricty and its stepped down to 24 volts. I will have to investagate further.
