Ah ha that makes a lot of sense! OK well if I can get up the courage to eat cow tongue burritos (OMG I love them so much) then I might be able to eat goat BBQ. The funny thing is, the ppl ar ound here that raise meat goats sell them but would never eat goat themselves...

We're starting our meat goat project next couple of months. Goat meat is about the lowest in fat among farm animals. Lower even than chicken (not sure about rabbit). A friend of mine buys and butchers his own on site for religious reasons and is taking me to help next trip, to teach me and so I can see if I can do this.

Buster - I think rabbit is about as lean as it gets. Do you have a ranking or chart on that? I bet that would be interesting. It would be even better to see how it breaks down "factory" raised vice home farm raised, that would probably be an eye opener.

We had our chickens processed about a month ago. Next time we will definitely be looking at the "meaties". As far as goats go, my son is crazy about goat meat. It didn't taste oily to me, more like a pork flavor. I believe goat is more lean. Right now, we have two boer goats that he keeps eyeballing to eat. One is Sammy the Sammich that he showed in the county fair and we got lucky enough to have him come home with us even though he was Reserve Grand. The other is Fat Tony and he is going to the State Fair. If he returns, I know the boy will be driving me crazy for a goat roast

. I just can't bear to eat them after I have hugged, petted and talked to them. I think it's easier to do the chickens because you don't form a bond with them as much as you do a goat. These goats cry for us the moment they see us and they follow just like a dog!

Thats another reason I couldnt eat goat, to me thay are a pet like a dog.

Not to hijack thread, but here is the boy eating goat ribs. He and his friend had just finished the goat steaks.

He ate goat instead of our freshly butchered chicken.
