This is my first ever time trying to use a bator. I am on day 7 and just canled the 10 eggs I have in there. I am pretty sure they are all viable. My question is one of the eggs had a crack in it. I don't know how it happened unless it ha a small crack in it when I put it in. I took it out assuming it wouldn't make it and cracked it to see how it looked. I had a perfectly developed fetus. Would this egg have hatched if I had left it in or did I do the right thing by taking it out? Thanks in advance for the replies. God Bless!

You most likely did the right thing- Eggs with cracks can sometimes explode in the incubator and ruin your whole hatch. If I were you, I wouldn't take that risk!

I've definitely hatched eggs with cracks. If they don't actually puncture the membrane, putting on a coat of nail polish/white glue/melted wax works very well. These kinds of eggs can hatch very successfully. Just keep that in mind for the future.

Thanks for the info! The membrane wasn't punctured so I wished I had asked this question before I cracked the egg. I'll remember that next time.

i have one in the incubator that has a small crack but the membrane is intact and it looks to be developing well. i am keeping a very close eye on it tho. good luck with yours
