Out of the 18 eggs, there are only 3 I'm not sure about. One was because it was a chocolate brown egg with a really thick shell, so, I couldn't see through it; one was because the chick looks a little smaller than the others; the last one, I'm thinking may have been an "early quitter," but, we'll give it a few more days to be sure. I don't want to toss out a healthy baby!

For you

pros out there, is it possible to have one chick developing faster than the rest? There was one egg that looked to be at least 50% larger than the other biggest chick. They all started in the incubator at the same time. Is this normal/ok?

I'm sure it will be fine if you let it stay in incubation. The temp should be around 95 and humidity between 58% and 60% humidity. Good luck.

Our temp is at 99.5 F. I was just worried that, if the little guy is developing faster, he/she would arrive during lockdown for the others.

Has anyone ever had a chick hatch days before the others start pipping/zipping?

My first hatch saw the first chick out three days before the last. I only had 4 eggs in lockdown, so it was quite a difference! Smaller eggs tend to develop slightly faster than larger eggs.

When I hatched my first batch they started popping out the day that I was suppose to put them in lock down. They were fine:) If this happens just up the humidity =D
