This all sounds perfectly normal to me, because I have a parrot!
Parrots have been wearing FlightSuits for a long time, which is the parrot version of a chicken diaper. There are also harnesses available for parrots, so people can take them places, without the bird flying away. In the beginning, I think people were just using kitten and cat harness that they adapted.
The great thing about chicken diapers, is that they are sized for chickens and you get such personalized and knowledgeable help in fitting your breed of chicken.
My parrot is potty trained and I've often wondered about potty training a chicken, also. Maybe I will start a thread on this some day. You know, my husband just isn't interested in my ramblings on this topic!
