Just curious if you see any Roos?

I took some portraits of our chicks at around 5 weeks old (about a week ago now) before they moved to the garage. We are pretty sure Pepper is a rooster at this point, but curious if you see any other likely suspects? I haven’t been able to pick any out. I know the ISA browns are sex linked but I’m including them anyway cause they’re cute :)

I realize it’s still a smidge early but just curious if anything jumps out at you as we are very new to this chick thing :p

Cleo is a cinnamon queen, not a RSL. Pepper looks to be the only cockerel (so far).
Huh?

Cinnamon Queens are one kind of Red Sex Link, according to all the information I can find.

OP labeled Cleo "ISA Brown," which is also one kind of Red Sex Link.

If you meant that Cleo is not an ISA Brown, I agree, because Cleo has black feathers where ISA Browns would have white feathers.

I have seen plenty of hatchery CQs with rose combs here on BYC. If you want, I can link threads :)

Oh and yes, I meant that the bird is a CQ, not an ISA Brown.

Oh wow! That’s pretty cool actually, and now that I look at some pics of ISA Browns this age it’s pretty obvious that’s not what these are :p I think the cinnamon queens look even prettier, so I’m happy with that! And too funny, I even gave one of them a queenly name without knowing it (Cleo being short for Cleopatra) 😂

And yay, maybe we really got that lucky?! I was really hoping for just the one rooster. And I’m also kinda hoping he’s a bantam, he is a bit smaller than most of the other chicks except for maybe Gloria. A bantam rooster just seems like the perfect solution— too small to cause too much trouble but still a little bit of protection for them.

Would definitely be curious if anyone can tell whether Pepper is likely a silver Duckwing Phoenix or a Silver Duckwing Bantam but maybe it’s too soon to tell?

Thank you so much for your insight! It’s great to have so many experienced eyes to call upon :)

Cleo is not an ISA Brown. Cleo might be a Cinnamon Queen.
I am not disagreeing about either of those points.

I was just objecting to your statement that "Cleo is a cinnamon queen, not a RSL."
Saying it that way would mean that Cinnamon Queens are not Red Sex Links.

But Cinnamon Queens ARE Red Sex Links. The hens are red, and the males are silver-based, and the two sexes can be separated by color. That's exactly what a Red Sex Link means. (And the quote you gave, saying CQ have a RIR father and SLW mother, demonstrates that nicely-- that pairing does produce sexlink chicks.)

Where did you buy them from? It will be easier to tell once he is older/fully feathered.

Gotcha. Yes, typo on my part.

You will probably have to wait until he grows up a bit more before you know for sure if he is a bantam or a standard sized chicken.

And by the time he grows up, you will know for sure if he is a phoenix (long tail that trails behind him on the ground) or not (normal length tail.)

Details about terminology:
Silver Duckwing is a color.
Bantam is a size (small chicken).
Phoenix is a breed where roosters grow a long tail. They come in bantam size and standard size.

So he could perhaps be Silver Duckwing Phoenix Bantam.
But I think Silver Duckwing Old English Game Bantam is more likely, because they are more common.

Some other bantam-sized breeds also come in Silver Duckwing color, and some other standard sized breeds do too.
