Just curious who else is living super frugal

I buy most of my clothes used as well. I think it's fun looking through everything and getting such a good deal! The thought of spending $50 on a new sweater makes me a little ill LOL We are working towards being more self sustainable with our food too. I'm planning my garden already (we can't plant until May here), and hoping to do meat chickens this year as well. We are considering getting a jersey cow for milk and dairy products as well (my Granny was fantastic at home dairy products and taught me quite a bit). I already make our own butter and yogurt, can't wait to get into doing cheese as well. We are in the process of buying a bigger property and will move in March, so we can do hogs and our own beef this year as well.

I also shop at the goodwill and go to yard sales. But I do still go to the mall, I can find thing cheaper there than the goodwill. I do not buy underwear and bras from there I buy them new. I know several people who do but I don't.

When I do my grocery I buy the Sunday paper. I look and if you don't know Walmart price matches. Mine does it with out the sales add. My grocery bill is only 200$ a month. I also buy in bulk. I do coupons a lot. And dollar general has a 5$ off 25 or 30$ purchase. That's where I buy a lot if cleaning stuff and personal needs.

Also I check Craigslist often. They post all kinds of free stuff. I never go get anything I can't use.

We live in a rial area also and I know people who give freash fruit and veggies away in the summer

If you are in very bad need of food there are lots of food pantrys and they give personal needs too.

Also I have nothing plugged up except my fridge and stove. We watch movies no cable. We have 1 phone and I do have internet on it.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but my wife and I discovered a company called jiffy shirts (google if interested) and we buy all of our t-shirts there for really great prices. I sort of cringe when I see folks walking around in $10-20 t shirts!

I didn't' notice that in their size choices but I did notice that the very shirts I've been looking for (heavy tees with pockets and ladies oxfords with top pocket) are indeed not only there,, but at great prices! I'll be ordering from them as soon as I can afford it for sure!!!

I congatulate you folks that save a lot of money every month by clipping coupons, I really do. It's just that it never works for me! All of the coupons are for 'brand name' items when I get store brands cheaper, even with the coupon. Or they are for products that I never really use, anyway. Like prepared foods. We make everything from scratch, because it's healthier.

I have seen those 'news' pieces on people that buy a grocery cart full of stuff, and pay 75 cents. But they are buying things that we would never get! I have heard of stores that double or triple coupons, but they don't exist in my shopping world.

The only thing that really does work for me is my store loyalty card. They watch my buying patterns, and send monthly e-coupons to my card for things I actually buy. My store also gives gas points, so every month we can save about 40 or 50 cents off a gallon on one fill up. Now that helps!

I'm with you Scott. The stuff you can get "great" coupons for is stuff I'd never buy normally. And I don't think I'm saving money by buying something extra, no matter the price. Most are for boxed meals, instant mixes, candy bars, and cereal, that sort of thing. Which I do not buy. Now a Harbor Freight coupon, those I can use! :D

He he, there you go! Or a 15% your total at the supermarket coupon.

OOOOH, I know what I'd like!!! A "We'll come to your house and do the dishes for a week" coupon!
