Just finished my 3rd and best coop ... this one is for sale!

Hmmm, NanasAcres, that's an interesting thought to elevate the coop a couple of feet ... out here that would provide some welcome shade. Guess I could work it up one corner at a time and maybe use sackcrete to pour some cement blocks ... I like that idea ... Thanks!

Yesterday I did lower the roost a lot and moved it farther from the wall. My ladders are less steep now. All good suggestions that I followed ... thanks.

It still looks too much like a cracker box to me though. I'd like to perhaps add a overhang to the front.

You are on the right track with overhang as TalkaLittle suggested. No one wants water dripping on them as they tend their flock. Also, makes it handy to attach gutters for rain barrel water harvesting. Pitch the roof more as well towards the rear of your coop.Best to you in future sales.

That is a really neat coop! And an attractive material cost and price. If you're looking for additional revenue streams from it, you could write up instructions for building with diagrams and pictures and sell it as a PDF download for folks like me who live too far away to buy one directly.

@ChickenHermit, that's a great idea!

Thanks a lot ChickenHermit. I wish someone would buy this one as I'd love to build another one right now. And I would love to incorporate the changes I've learned in the next coop. The best parts about this coop (IMO) is the ladder from the ground and then to the roost. I had the roost too high believing it gave my hens additional protection from predators. But now I believe if a predator makes it into the coop it's too late to avoid a loss. But this design keeps the entire floor of the coop clear ... leaving room for food and water only ... making cleaning easier.

The next coop would have greater overhangs on both sides and front. And I believe an awning on the front. This one isn't as attractive as I'd like.

I know when I'm making things it's always better and better versions until I perfect it for customers (I sell wallets, hand bound books and the like in local stores and online. Woo making!). I totally get the feedback -> refinement cycle. Sounds like you have some awesome improvements planned!
