I did my undergrad at Penn State and it took me 4 years as a full-time student. It was fabulous! They have an extensive agricultural program and we were constantly going on field trips to study the soil, pasture management and going to farms to see how they're doing things. I took a class on horse training working with the college's 2-year-old horses, took one on companion animals and visited a dog food manufacturer, took some poultry science courses and participated in the annual turkey processing fund raiser (excellent practice for my current chicken addiction). In one of my Animal Science classes we hatched eggs and sexed baby chicks and made yogurt and graded meat.

I would say absolutely do it!!!! It may take a long time since you're a parent and you'd have to take one or two classes at a time, but then you can really concentrate on each one - where I was taking 8 classes at a time and some things are a blur. There's nothing more satisfying than following your dreams!

I am a nurse by trade but am currently a stay at home mom to my 4 kids. Will probably go back to work at least part time when my youngest goes to preschool in a few years. I definately need a sanity check some days with these guys!

My undergrad is in equine science and my grad is in toxicology. I'm a total science nerd.
