just found a nest of 18 eggs

Hi. We have two hens and we had a rooster up until about 3 weeks ago. We just discovered a nest of about 18 eggs.

We are wondering if they could possibly be fertile. The hens have not been sitting on them much at all

We are also wondering if the eggs are ok to eat since they could be a month or more old. It has been pretty cold here (in CA) low 40s at night and mid 50's during the day.

Any insight to help us newbies would be great!
