Just Getting Started and I REALLY Need Help!

Thank you so much! Apparently I’m going to have to put a pin in my duck dream, my hubby “surprised” me with six buff Orpington pullets this morning. I was a little miffed at first but they’re growing on me. Will my yard setup still be ok now that it’s chickens? I’m hoping I’ll be able to add Anconas to my yard once I have these established, I just want to have time to socialize what I’ve got before I start anything else.

You'll have to keep an eye on your chicks as they grow so they don't get through the fencing until big enough they can't but yes your set up will work for chickens too. They will need to roost inside. Congrats!! [It's only the beginning] and you can now blame it on your hubby

Thank you for all your help! Another question I have is if I can use chicken wire for the run, or should I use hardware cloth? If I use chicken wire, I can afford to make a much larger run, but I’m a little scared of it not being as strong. I was planning on using hardware cloth for everything on the coop so they would be as safe as possible at night.
