(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Brand new, currently planning the coop and run. Hope to have chickens by the end of April
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
0
(3) What breeds do you have?
We are looking into Silver Laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island Reds, and maybe some Golden Laced Polish.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Don't know for certain, but we love animals. We want to produce our own eggs and I am tempted to enter a few in competition in some local events.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. Enjoy growing food in our garden, orchard, and berry patch. My favorite sport to play is basketball and let's don't forget about supporting my Carolina Panthers!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My wife and I have been married 5.5 years and we have little 6.5 month old son. He is such a joy, always smiling and laughing. The work day cannot pass quick enough. We have two dogs, Toby and Rosco who are about 10 years old. Toby (black lab mix) is blind in one eye and Rosco (jack russel/chiuaua mis) has one ear (he attacked by another dog before we adopted him). I work in financial services (mortgages) at a credit union.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
A combination of internet researching and a friend that already has some chickens. Excited to be here and continuing to learn.
