Last Tuesday I ordered my ladies and expect to receive them this coming Tuesday or Wednesday. Have been looking and reading a lot of information on this site. So I figured that I should join and keep getting info as my gals develop. Amazing how much info that you people put out there for us newbies. I think I have allthe info I need for the first week or so. I am using a very large bird cage for my brooder. Have gleaned a lot of info and used this site to help me get ideas for my coop. Will start building next week and will take pictures as I progress and later post them. If I can figure out how to post pictures. I am pretty illiterate using the computer. Thanks for all the information.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the soon to be new babies!! Definitely stop by our learning center for all kinds of good articles on all the aspects of keeping your new brood. Here is a nice article on brooding your new babies...https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/raising-your-baby-chicks

When you get your chicks home, make sure the first thing you do is dip everybodies beak in the water. They will be dehydrated from their shipping journey. And getting them hydrated before they eat will help to prevent pasty butt.

If you have any questions about your babies after you get them, feel free to ask around the forums.

Welcome to our flock!
