Just getting started

Hello everyone
I am not new to chickens I have had them all my life but I am getting ready to get started with a good quality heratige breed and I thought this is a good place to learn and get started
Any advice on breeds or any other info would be greatly appreciated

I am thinking of Rhode Island reds the dark kind seems all the hatcheries around here has rir but they don't look right they are too light in color does anyone know where to get the good ones

I'm glad you joined us.

Definitely check out the links that Kelsie2290 linked to. You won't find true Rhode Island Reds from any hatchery, only from breeders.
