Just getting started

I am still learning the site
I see that some have a location
How do you put my location on here

If you go to you "My Profile" (link should be at the top right of page) then to "Edit Community Profile" you can add a location... if you scroll to near the end of the "My Profile" page you can do the "Your Forum Signature" where you can add the info/writing that will appear at the very bottom of your posts.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. RIRs are hardy, dependable layers but are sometimes aggressive (especially the roosters). If you want a more docile breed, I would suggest going with a heritage breed that has a well deserved reputation for being calm and gentle (potential lap pets) such as Australorps, Orpingtons, Brahmas, Cochins, or Sussex. If egg production is a priority, Australorps are the best layers on this list. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Whatever heritage breed you decide to get, good luck with your flock.

I will have to check those breeds out
I do want a good hardy chicken that lays brown egg well
But I also want a chicken that is nice to look at

I can identify with that. It's part of the reason that, despite having become very utilitarian in my old age, I still keep some Buff Orpingtons in my flock. :o)

I do have some eggs in my incubator now they are production reds I think
This is my first time hatching
5 eggs have a small pop in them
How long should it take for them to get out of the shell and should I help them out
