Just Got Chicks + Rare(?)

Hi, I had no trouble seeing the pictures and am very impressed with your coop...so large and airy...great thanks for the pics..Glenda

JFreeman - very cute blog. Your chicks are adorable.
What are you using as the bedding? They kinda look like shavings, but nothing like what I have found around where I live.

I got the pictures, they have all grown sooo much and the coop is beautiful and very big too!!

Thank you for all the compliments. We (my husband) tried to get it big so I can walk in easily and gather eggs, clean it out, grab chickens when needed, etc. We have mild winters, so an enclosed coop was unnecessary. I use Pine shaving flakes (not the fine cut) and I buy them from Tractor Supply. It costs the same as the fine shavings, but it covers more cubic feet.

Thanks again for the compliments. :) I try to keep my chick blog updated, but some times I lapse into laziness and ignore the computer. :)

I have posted again on my blog, but I had to post an updated picture of one of my Polish. I ordered two hens, but I ended up with a roo and hen. I'm not upset because I like them much more than I thought I would. Well, I named the roo after Patti Labell. Ladies and Gentleman, meet Labelle!

I know! I love the poof! I was supposed to get some cochins so I can have bell-bottoms along with some fros, but the cochins were only sold by straight run, and I wanted to choose how many of each sex I got. The Polish were the second choice, and I think it worked out for the best. :) The next chicken I'll be looking for (aside from an Ameraucana roo for my hen) will be the Crele Polish, and then the Buff Laced Polish. They look really neat.

The crele polish is very neat looking, the Buff Laced Polish sort of look like a regular polish.... :)
