So i just got my chicks today, I noticed they were cold so i turned on the lamp. its a 175W bulb ( the real deal) and i can barely get the temperature to 90. whats going on
i set up a blanket over the box as a bandaid solution (it is not completely covering the box) so that some heat is allowed out. so far so good i have been able to regulate the temp to 95 this way.
but i am totally dissapointed with this lamp. last week i found out the kids i was suposed to stsrt babysitting can't take the bus to my house so now im stuck having to go to their house wich means i wont be home tommorrow to watch my babies
help

We have space heater on one side of the cage so if they're cold they can go hang out over there. Seems to do the trick.

I bet if you lower the lamp it will get warmer. I also think that 90 will be fine for your chicks, they will make some heat of their own.

HA! no I can't lower the lamp more because we are using an old dresser and the space between drawers isn't big enough. So its pretty close.
But I found out the lamp has different settings on it (dumb moment for me) I thought it was nothing but an on/off switch but you clic it a couple of times and it gets more powerful
they did good all night, and all day after that.
