Yup. Last year was our first with birds. We had gotten some bb poults and two heritage poults. All was fine until bout five months and put the birds in for the night and all was well... next mornin one was dead under the roost. Poults are a bit more fragile longer than chickens. So save yourself heartache of tryin find a poult in a scramble if anything should happen since these are the only ones you have.

Following this,just got two poults who are two weeks yesterday.No idea they were that fragile.Have been raising chicks and they are much easier than turkeys from what I see.I also read somewhere they need lots of heat until their fully feathered?I have used a heat lamp,just sat them with two eight week old chicks to cuddle because here at nights it gets sixty in the mornings but hot in the evenings.They did just fine and on top of that it dropped during the fifty’s last night,what sickness do they contract the easiest?And how do you know what they have and how can tell they are sick?

I am getting some poults this week. How have yours been doing under the heat plate? (At least it looks like that’s what you are using). My chicks did great with it this spring...just wondering how the poults will do.

they are doing so good!! they love the heat plate. i put them under there as soon as i showed them the food and water and they took right to it! good luck with your little cuties!
