Just got my new leghorn rooster
So here why I'm going to tell this story
I went and got this guy from a good breeder for my 2 hens cause I want to get some PB leghorns instead of cross
I don't think he's ready to handle breeding yet so I just put him into the same pen withch has a another rooster anyway he's doing fine hes aloud into the coop at night and to stay around the hens but not near the feeder. I got by this by getting him is own feeder

2 weeks later

My peacock injured his wing killing a dog that was in his territory so I bandaged it up and put him in the same pen of leghornn the next day I went out and the leghorn and the other rooster was getting along well and to me this was strange so I sat and watched why he was aloud to eat at the feeder and ones the other rooster went to peack on my leghorn rooster the peacock would swop in and scare them

Its all my brothers kids talk about and the more peiplp here the funner it sounds

Yes and no the dog is in the vet but only cause I couldn't let the dog die
He looked to be a sheep dogs cross
And it's rare that a peacock will attack they prefer to make loads of noice and scare of the predictor
The only reason he attack this time was because my peacock lives in my broody she'd so where all my broody hens live he stays in with them and the dog managed to do something possible get to close to his territory and he just went at the dog
Btw as much as it sounds crule and all if the peacock haddened done this I'd be 5 hens less today
And the vet said he's a stray cause he has no chip in him

In chickens anyway part of the pecking order is that the top or alpha chicken can and does decide if any other member of the flock is allowed to enforce pecking order behavior or if that privilege only belongs to the alpha male or female.

In other words when an underling puts a lower ranking bird in its place the alpha chicken sees that as a threat to his power.

Are u referring the 2 roosters
Cause if so I didn't decide that the leghorn had to be higher in the peaking order the peacock took over and the leghorn followed behind
