Just Got the !*$%*!! Scared Out of Me!

So I'm sitting inside on the puter (where else if not with my girls) ... and as some of you know I have a V-tech video web cam/monitor set up in my coop and the monitor on my end sits right here on my puter tower. It has great sound which I have jacked up to the loudest it will go, naturally!!

Anyways, I'm sitting here on the BYC forum browsing around and all of a sudden I hear this THUNDEROUS crashing sound off the monitor!!!!! YIKES!!!

My instant reaction was something was trying to get into their temporary run and get my girls! I jumped up like I was still 20 years old (not!) and ran outside. There on the ground was a huge limb from one of the Ponderosa Pines that had apparently just decided to break off and come crashing down.........fortunately it didn't crash through the run.......YAY!

My girls were all in a laying-down position not moving an inch...must have scared the you-know-what out of them...poor babies!!!! Got the limb out of the yard, talked with the girls to calm them down....WHAT A DAY!!

Thanks...that limb was huge, too! Almost 10 feet long.

Holy moly!

What a shocking thing to have happen - for both you, and the girls.

I had NO IDEA that chickens could 'hit the deck' in case of emergencies either.

The rest of the afternoon if they pooped it was kinda loose, too...can't blame them!
