We just got out first set of chickens! Ther were free and given to us from a horse breeder down the road. He wanted to downsize for the winter. I built a coop, bought food, gear, etc. But what do I have?? It is VERY hard to try and match them up from the breed list.

Are they any good for eggs? He said the eggs were small? He never showed me one.

Are they Bantam's as in small chickens? so small eggs? Will she still lay eggs this late in the fall with having been moved to a new home and all?

He gave us a hen and four teenage chicks. I think the chicks are all from this hen. Even the white one?

Thanks!!!

OK,

After some more research, I am thinking they must be Old English Game OR Dutch?

Congrats!!!!! Yes, those are bantams although I can't tell the breed. I'm assuming the white would be a leghorn but don't hold me to that. Their eggs are smaller but just as good. If your recipe calls for one large egg, use two.

Welcome to BYC.
The older hen looks to be an OEG mix. The other three it is hard to tell on but the darker two also look to be OEG mixes. The little white one would be a real guess. All appear to be Bantams
Your addiction has begun....LOL
